SANDRA NIKOLAI

Raised in Montreal, Québec, Sandra graduated from McGill University and now resides in the Ottawa area. As a young girl, she became a fan of the Nancy Drew mystery series and was determined to write her own stories one day. Her career choices didn’t exactly lead her along the “yellow brick road” to writing mystery novels—though working in a bank and experiencing armed robberies did ingrain terrifying memories worthy of a tale or two!

Sandra has published a string of short crime stories, winning awards along the way, including an Honourable Mention in Canadian Writer’s Journal short fiction competition. She pursued her passion with the Megan Scott/Michael Elliott Mystery series, using the premise that evil often lurks in familiar places. Her second mystery series features Amber McNeil, a psychic consultant who works in the cold case unit of the Montreal Police Service.

False Impressions, Sandra’s first novel, was nominated as Best Mystery/Suspense in the 2013 eFestival of Words Best of the Independent eBook Awards. Sandra was nominated for Favourite Author of the Year at the 2020, 2021, and 2022 Ottawa Awards presented by Faces Magazine.
